Self Portrait Photography

As most of you know, self-portraiture is a part of nearly every photographer’s portfolio. They give photographers a chance to explore moods and feelings within themselves and are often a chance for them to take on another persona and play a character within an image. I have had a keen interest in self portrait photography of late. And here is a couple of photographers I find very inspiring.

Yulia Gorodinski

Yulia is Belarusian and lives in Israel. She is self taught and does exclusively self portrait photography.

Federico Erra

Federico is another self taught photographer. He started his photography exclusively in self portraiture when a friend suggested that he was very photogenic and should try it out. He has since branched out into portraiture predominantly of his muse "Sarah". His images heavily explore sexuality and psychology.

On an interesting note. Federico is now a woman.

Lucia Holm

Last Lucia Holm is again a predominately self portraiture photographer how has broken into portrait photography. She has completed a bachelor and masters in fine art but soon after swapped the paint brush for camera and has barely looked back since. Alot of her images have retro scenes and all sport bold saturated colours

In conclusion, I think we should all put aside our fear of judgement and take a photo of ourselves once in a while. I hope you found this inspiring :)
