History of Fashion Photography

There are 3 common strategies involved within Fashion Photography According to Roland Barthes who was a french literary theorist and philosopher...

1- Literal Representation, so an image that clearly displays and identifies a product,

2- romanticised, this is where Fashion becomes more referential. Like a story where real life becomes art, e.g. acting out a dream.

AND...

3- Mockery, the art of a juxtaposition within Fashion. Simply absurd artistic direction with no meaning. Most used to simply capture the viewer and bring attention.
